Although only short time before the rainy season started, we planted 15.000 Vetiver plants to stabilize the river bank and the slope behind Lynda's and Glen's house.
The fantastic effect was to be noticed very soon. During a rather big flood when there was big rain up in the mountains and once in a sudden the river filled up until the edge and the vetiver was totally submerged in water these wonderful plants have already proven to be very effective! When the water level dropped again to the usual height the vetiver plants just stood up again as if nothing had happened and we did noty loose any land to erosion. For the ones interested to read more about that "wonder plant" please have a look at www.vetiver-indonesia .com
